The human brain can be likened to an organic computer, an incredibly advanced information processor. By the final trimester of pregnancy, a child’s brain possesses an operating system.
However, similar to a computer, having an operating system alone doesn’t make it functional. To make use of this “biological computer,” programs need to be downloaded into the system. Just as you need to install programs on a computer to write, draw, or create spreadsheets, the brain requires these programs to provide it with its unique “character.”
Once these programs are installed into the brain’s hard drive, we can use our “keyboard” or conscious mind to input our creative ideas and data, just as we do on a computer.
Some programs run automatically in the background while we engage with other creative tasks.
In this analogy, the subconscious mind is equivalent to the computer’s hard drive. Both rely on downloaded programs to execute their functions. In contrast, the conscious mind corresponds to the keyboard—a place where we, as the operators, can introduce new data and ideas, giving the system a read-write capacity.
When we operate from our conscious minds, we become creators of our lives. However, during approximately 95% of our existence, our conscious mind is disengaged from directing our behavior and instead turns inward in thought, allowing the subconscious to take control.
This insight is profound because it unveils that we aren’t actively creating the lives we desire but rather unconsciously manifesting lives that align with the beliefs we absorbed during our formative years, primarily before age seven.
Scientific research indicates that we only utilize our creative conscious mind for about 5% of the day. This means that for 95% of our lives, our conscious mind is overshadowed by the programs embedded in our subconscious.
